Dominic Fischer
Musik- Mime, Schauspieler, Regisseur,Writer
English version

Fischer is a master of exaggeration. In his surrealistic way he capitvates his audience.

Dominic Fischer, Mime, Performer, Regisseur
An unusual combination of first and last names. This is a little window into the unusual mix of characteristics that make up the person of this performing artist, writer, director, actor, mime- clown- comic- improviser. There were always odd and multiple combinations; athlete and scholar, spiritual seeker and woman lover, philosopher- hippie and body builder, artist and business man. This is probably what made Dominic jump from being on the verge of professional sport (he was chosen one of the top athletes in America his senior year in university) to mime-clowning!!!! What a switch! His family thought he had permanently flipped out or that it was one long April fool’s day. In one sense it was. After twenty years of exploring and developing his intellect, his left brain capacities and physical body, Dominic stumbled upon his alter ego. One day while being one of fifty male guinea pigs to transfer from an all male university to a 2000 strong all female university in a co- educational experiment (that’s a 40 to 1 ratio if you had not realized) he took a dance class. His real purpose was to show off his athletic “equipment” in front of the girls. Well he soon discovered how these female athletes were much more flexible, coordinated and graceful than he could have imagined. Besides dance and eventually theatre and music and the arts were so much more fun, creative, passionate and challenging that it did not take him long before he made the switch. That was more than 30 years ago and the creative juices have not stopped flowing.
Neither have the strange combinations! It’s not easy to make a living as an artist out in the real world, even if you are a world class one. That is where you really need to be creative. One has to reach deep into the well of all that learning, all those experiences, all those odd mixtures and come up with something original. Indeed he did! Symphony orchestras with narrators, mime and dance; lovely female classical musicians playing Piazzolla being carried and dragged around the stage by a muscular flirtatious mime clown, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with opera folio, shadow plays, musicians baring shoulders as spring turns to summer, books, films, videos, arts festivals, Peking Opera combinations with mime and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in China! Need there be more said? There is more; much, much more. But you will have to read on to see for yourself. Better than that, you will have to meet Dominic Fischer face to face when you hire him for a gig. You see that’s the businessman coming out!
